Alicia Yelavich

CEO

Alicia Yelavich is the Chief Executive Officer of Perinatal Mental Health Australia (PMHA) and Director of Marketing at Gidget Foundation Australia. With more than 18 years of experience spanning business leadership, marketing, partnerships, advocacy, fundraising and organisational growth, Alicia has built a career bringing people, organisations and ideas together to create meaningful impact.

‍

Throughout her career, Alicia has held senior leadership roles across the corporate, health and not-for-profit sector, working with recognised brands and purpose-driven organisations to drive growth, engagement and social impact. She is also an entrepreneur, having founded and operated her own parenting technology business, combining her passion for innovation, family wellbeing and community connection.

‍

Alicia has played a significant role in shaping Australia's perinatal mental health landscape. Since 2021, she has helped lead the growth of Perinatal Mental Health Week from a developing awareness campaign into a nationally recognised movement involving more than 68 organisations across Australia. She also worked alongside sector leaders to help establish PMHA, Australia's first dedicated national peak body for perinatal mental health.

‍

As CEO of PMHA, Alicia is passionate about fostering collaboration across the sector and building a stronger, more connected system of care for Australian families. She believes that by bringing together member organisations, researchers, governments and lived-experience advocates, the sector can reduce fragmentation, improve navigation, and create more equitable access to support. Her focus is on ensuring every family can access the right support at the right time, regardless of where they live or their circumstances.

Acknowledgement of Country
Perinatal Mental Health Australia acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the lands and waters across the country on which we work. We pay our respects to their continuing connection to Country, culture and community, and to Elders past and present. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first parents, families and carers of this land, with knowledge systems of pregnancy, birth and raising children passed down for tens of thousands of generations.
Acknowledgement of our LGBTQIA+ Community
Perinatal Mental Health Australia is committed to a perinatal mental health sector that is safe and inclusive for people of all genders, sexualities and family structures. LGBTQIA+ parents and families can face additional barriers to support, and we work with our members to remove them. We are dedicated to ensuring every parent feels seen and respected on their journey into parenthood.
Recognition of Lived Experience
Perinatal Mental Health Australia recognises the lived experience of parents, partners and families as essential expertise in shaping a stronger sector. We are committed to keeping these voices central to the advocacy, policy and practice we drive on behalf of the sector.
